Hayden had a dig at New Zealand when he said that the expansive Melbourne Cricket Ground would disconcert Australia’s opponent in the 2015 World Cup final.

In these days, what one say or write on a social media platform has to be carefully weighed as one wrong word will expose you to the barbs of a global audience. Matthew Hayden found that out when he made a comment about the Kiwis which was humorously ripped apart on Twitter.

Hayden had a dig at New Zealand when he said that the expansive Melbourne Cricket Ground would disconcert Australia’s opponent in the 2015 World Cup final. “Let’s be honest, the size of Eden Park [in Auckland] is ridiculous. It shouldn’t be a cricket ground. If you can half throw it from the long-off boundary to the opposite end it’s too small.There were a number of times in the semi-final where the New Zealand batsmen appeared to be hitting big balls, but they’d be getting caught three quarters of the way to the fence at the MCG,” Hayden wrote in his column for www.news.com.au

Hayden’s opinion gave birth to the tag: “#MCGsobig”. Unlike in the sub-continent where Hayden would have been subjected to a shower of abuses, the tweets were humorous and non-offensive:
Below is a pick of the #MCGsobig which trended on Twitter;

Jokes apart, the most compelling tweet to smash Hayden’s logic was produced by Toby Manhire, who shared on Twitter a self-explanatory image designed by http://dotlovesdata.com:

MCG so big
